Rice is something that you might usually make on the stove while making a stew or curry in the slow cooker. This is not always necessary though because it is possible to cook rice in the crockpot. Actually there are lots of grains you can slow cook, including millet and quinoa.

A slow cooker beef bourguignon works in a much different way than a pressure cooker which allows much higher temperatures than the boiling point of water. Because the lid of a slow cooker hearty beef stew is on very loosely, the temperature inside will never get above the boiling point of water. Any vapor that does occur condenses on the lid and returns as moisture back onto the food.

13. Get to know the back of the fridge. A lot of food often goes to waste simply because you lose track of a hunk of cheese or last week's stuffed peppers. Make it a priority to incorporate leftovers in soups, stews, stir fries or salads to minimize waste.

The best thing a vegetarian can do is to go through the recipes that they currently have on hand. These are no doubt their favorites anyway. Now imagine how they will look or taste without the meat in the them. Some may not even matter, like for instance, beef stew. Now you simply call it stew. Maybe you might want to add some extra vegetables for some additional color or flavor. It will still be tasty and all will enjoy it. Continue through your recipes and this will now be your base for your meatless meal planning adventure. And, it is an adventure but the reward is that you will now be cooking meatless which is what you, no doubt want anyway.

Place all ingredients in the crockpot and cook on high beef stew two hours. Taste and adjust seasoning is necessary. Remove bay leaves, limes wedges (squeeze any juice out of them first) and the chicken from the pot. Let the chicken cool enough to touch and remove the bones being especially careful to remove the small ones. Throw away the bay leaves, lime wedges and the bones. Shred the chicken meat and put it back into the soup.

When doing your dishes in the dishwasher make sure that you fill it to as full as it can get and still get the dishes clean. And when you are doing the laundry, if you have a backyard and it's good weather consider hanging up a clothes line and drying your clothes outside and save on the dryer as much and as often as you can.
